CAVEAT: Putting any kind of body of water in a garden bed will attract birds and other garden critters that may upset the rocks from time to time, and may mess up the water occasionally - but any sediment will eventually settle to the bottom again.
For our pond shown here in a fairy garden, we placed a security camera on it to see what happens at night in South Seattle. We have a regular nighttime visit from Opie the Opossum and occasional visits from a family of raccoons. The birds and crows visit it throughout the day and we see the odd wasp and bee drinking from the pond's edge too. Sometimes the rocks get upset but it's been easily fixable.
