True Dwarf Hinoki Cypress - Chameacyparis obtusa 'Nana"

This is a charmer for the miniature garden. What starts as the perfect shrub for a miniature landscape, grows naturally into a miniature tree, with a little pruning after a few years of growth.

Evergreen and colorful. The tips of the foliage are a lovely emerald green color, turning into a darker green as the branch goes toward the trunk.

SEPTEMBER - 2026 - Plants are bigger than the photo and have started branching out.

How it will grow for the miniature garden: This Hinoki grows slowly into a really majestic tree in miniature. After a couple/few years, you can start to see what the trunk is going to do and then you can start to carefully prune-away some of the lower branches to expose more of the trunk to make it look like a tree. Remember to prune carefully and gradually, standing back after each cut - you can always prune more off, but you can't put it back on.
