Sunny Swirl Hinoki Cypress - Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Sunny Swirl'

A great tree for the miniature garden setting and a favorite. The contorted, mahogany branches contrast nicely with the golden-chartreuse foliage for year-round interest. Cockscombs (twisted, curling branching) occasionally develop on the the tips that just add to the striking texture.

See the photo for its winter blush - the tops of the foliage turns yellow and plum colors if it's cold in your area. The colors will change back to that wonderful, rich emerald green color, shown in the other photos.

Trim a couple of the branches from the bottom of the trunk to get it into a tree-shape or appreciate it as a shrub in the miniature garden bed.
