Little John Hinoki Cypress - Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Little John'

Regular price $18.99

He's very handsome! A lovely new addition to our inventory and to the plant world. 'Little John' wears combination of foliage types that are either tight sprays of congested, twisting fans, or longer, more open shoots that reach up and out. Wonderful structure and texture with rich green leaves on reddish stems.

Shelter this gem from the hot afternoon sun in the summertime. It's so slow-growing compact when young and it may burn. Cool, eastern sun is perfect, or shade the container with a larger container during the hottest months.

Check inside the shrub for any dead branches (conifer dieback) and clear them out whenever you see it. It's how the plant exfoliates naturally.

  • Condensed, forest green lacy mound
  • Layers of foliage with the cutest curled tips on the branches
  • Upright broad shape
  • 3" to 6" per year
  • Hardy zones 4 - 8 or to -20F
  • Heat hardy 8 - 1
  • Cool sun to part shade
