Dwarf Lawrence Crocker Daphne - Daphne x medfordensis
A true dwarf Daphne! We've been growing this gem in one of our miniature gardens for years and it's easier to grow than I thought it was. This slow-growing variety is apparently much more reliable than the bigger ones - which makes it much more fun for the miniature garden!
This plant is listed as part shade, where I have been growing it is in full sun, but we never let the soil dry out completely.
Wonderful evergreen leaves add texture to the mini garden
Looks like a miniature rhododendron!
Fragrant flowers in late spring/early summer
Estimated growth rate 1" to 2" per year (here in Seattle)
Cold zones 6-9 or to -10F (has been known for Zone 5)
Heat zones estimated at 8 - 6
Can take full cool sun only if the roots are kept damp
Regular water if in a pot, let dry out to damp in between to avoid over-watering
Comes in a quart pot
An outdoor plant
