Slowmound Mugo Pine - Pinus mugo 'Slowmound'

Regular price $18.99

The Slowmound Mugo Pine is a wonderful selection for the miniature garden with gray buds on dark green needles in a dense, compact form that sits on top of a little trunk. It is a true dwarf that is small enough to plant just about anywhere. As it ages, the canopy will be lifted by the little trunk, and it will look more and more like a tiny tree each year.

Shear when it's young to make it bushier - which is best done before the new growth emerges in the springtime. OR leave it to grow up and it will become a lovely miniature pine tree.

**We do not trim nor train these trees here at our nursery, this latest batch has been trimmed by our grower. All trees are a little bit different and will differ a little from the photos shown here.**

  • perfect for containers – they don't mind their roots being a little crowded
  • great bonsai subject
  • slow growth down even more by pinching off the candles (the buds) in the spring but not every year
  • globe shaped
  • growth rate: 3 to 6" per year
  • cold hardy zones 2-8 or or -50F
  • heat zones: 7-1
  • full sun
  • regular water
  • let dry out a bit in between to avoid over watering
  • comes in a 4”pot
  • an outdoor plant
