Dwarf Mondo Grass - Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana'

Regular price $9.99

An awesome for the miniature garden! A favorite miniature grass that grows about 2" tall and slowly spreads on runners. If it's really happy, the tiniest, lavender colored flowers in summer are followed by bright blue berries that can stay through a mild winter.

Now this is one tough plant and worth the price. The Dwarf Mondo Grass can easily  missed-watering-sessions and will show some dead blades if it's been left too dry for too long - but that will take weeks to do! The fact that is is used as a lawn substitute in the hottest states is a testament to just how durable this plant really is.

Easy to maintain: Just pluck any dead blades out carefully, aerate the soil a bit and water it.

Great for indoors with plenty of bright light.

  • Easy care, can be indoors or outdoors.
  • Great color and texture
  • Small, lavender colored blooms turn to blue berries
  • Height is 3" to 4"
  • Spread is 6" to 18" - it will take time to spread and may keep spreading
  • Cold hardy zones 7 - 10 to 0F
  • Heat hardy zones 12 - 1
  • Outdoor: part shade/full shade
  • Indoor: bright indirect light
  • Regular water let soil dry out to damp between watering
  • Comes in a 4" pot

CAN BE DIVIDED! The plants can usually be divided right away. Break-apart the rootball as gently as you can and then you can use a pair of scissors to help cut the roots apart. Every division should have foliage and a bulb-type root. Don't divide them up into too-small of a clump, the bigger the divisions are, the greater the chance for them to thrive. And, you can always dig it out next season or next year
