Mini Thoweil Hinoki Cypress — Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Thoweil'

Upright and narrow, with deep-green, naturally sculpted foliage, the Thoweil Cypress is a stately anchor point for the miniature garden bed. As the little shrub grows up, it will reach-up and branch-out to look like a full-sized cypress - but in miniature.

The tips of the branches turn bronze/amber in winter - called the "winter blush."

At 2", this is the perfect size to start an entirely tiny-scale garden of its own — or to tuck in as a smaller accent layer alongside our 4" trees, adding depth and variety to your design without crowding it.

• Light: Full sun to part shade
• Growth rate: 3" to 6" per year

• Shape: Upright narrow
• Cold hardy Zone 5–8 or -20°F
• Heat zones 8–1

This is a young plant and will need a little extra shelter from weather extremes while it gets established.

General Info:

• Spring/Fall Maintenance: Clean out the dead leaves inside the shrub when you see it. Called 'conifer dieback.'
• While they're young, avoid hot summer afternoon sun
• Let container soil dry out to barely damp in between watering
• Comes in a 2" pot
• An outdoor plant
