Mini Butter Ball Hinoki Cypress — Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Butter Ball'

A 2" starter size of one of our favorite Hinoki cypresses — perfect for a small miniature garden, a railroad garden, or anywhere you want conifer color without crowding a tiny scene. Soft, lacy foliage in multi-toned yellows and creams forms a perfect palm-sized ball of conifer magic. Just lovely on its own and even more lovely in a miniature garden. We look forward to seeing the branches push up the canopy and become more tree-like for the miniature garden.

It'll get more yellow in the sun and limey-green with more shade — but it does need at least 6 hours of sun.

At 2", this is the perfect size to start an entirely tiny-scale garden of its own — or to tuck in as a smaller accent layer alongside our 4" trees, adding depth and variety to your design without crowding it.

General Info:

• Spring/Fall Maintenance: Clean out the dead leaves inside the shrub when you see it. Called 'conifer dieback.'
• While they're young, avoid hot summer afternoon sun if planted in a container
• Let container soil dry out to barely damp in between watering
• An outdoor plant
