Mini Cumulus Sawara Cypress — Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Cumulus'

A fun miniature shrub with great color and texture - a practical addition to any kind of mini garden scene. The foliage stays soft and tufted. Looks more gray in the sun, greener in the shade. Shear the new shoots in spring to maintain the tight bun-shape. OR leave it to grow naturally and you'll have a taller, leggy shrub for your rustic miniature garden.

Topiary potential: shear no more than ⅓ of the foliage at a time to train it gradually into shape.

At 2", this is the perfect size to start an entirely tiny-scale garden of its own — or to tuck in as a smaller accent layer alongside our 4" trees, adding depth and variety to your design without crowding it.

• Wonderful blue-green color; amber blush on top in cold months
• Light: Sun to part shade

• Growth rate: 1 to 3" per year
• Shape: Globe shaped if kept trimmed
• Cold hardy Zone 4–8 or -30°F
• Heat zones 8–1

This is a young plant and will need a little extra shelter from weather extremes while it gets established.

General Info:

• Spring/Fall Maintenance: Clean out the dead leaves inside the shrub when you see it. Called 'conifer dieback.'
• While they're young, avoid hot summer afternoon sun when planted in a container
• Let container soil dry out to barely damp in between watering
• Comes in a 2" pot
• An outdoor plant
