Melody is my new favorite Hinoki. The leaves are like lace. I just love the many different colors throughout each branch and the texture is really elegant. What's not to love?
The lemon yellow foliage in summer will bronze a bit in colder winters - that just adds more charm.
The growth shape is narrow when young, and will broaden with age. You really can't beat Melody's color and will brighten your day, all year long.
- Avoid strong afternoon sun in the summertime if it's on a pot
- Behaves well in part shade, at least 5-6 hours of sun
- Cool-full sun or part sun
- Growth rate is 3 to 5" per year
- Upright broad in shape
- Cold hardy to -20F or zones 5-6
