This ground cover is a tough one. It's a bit invasive when planted in the ground but it can easily be shovel-pruned in the spring to control the spread. Drought tolerant when established and step-able!
In potted miniature gardens, it is surprisingly tolerant of growing in a container for years. Just pinch back the runners in the spring when they appears.
The wonderful foliage adds not only a great color-contrast to your miniature garden, but the "big" flat leaves add some much-needed texture to the garden bed as well. 3" tall flower-stalks in the late spring/early summer are just the icing on the cake.
In colder winters, the leaves will blush a dark burgundy color. The green color will come back when the weather warms up in spring.
- Purple 3" high flowers in late spring/early summer
