This New Zealand Burr has great color and texture for the miniature garden bed. The blue-green foliage is very handsome with the tiny serrated leaves. It's evergreen too (- meaning it doesn't die back in winter.)
The tiny pompom-like flowers will pop out of the foliage in June/July. The flowers turn into wee mahogany-red burs that are the seedpods. Trim these off if you are using this as a step-able plant.
