Strieb's Findling Cotoneaster on Standard - Cotoneaster dammeri 'Strieb's Findling'

Regular price $19.99

Tiny glossy green leaves cover the unusual branching of the low-growing shrub that is a fun tree for mini gardening.

"On Standard" means the plant has been trained into a tree form. This plant was probably trained as a cutting, allowing only one stem to grow from the ground. Trim-away any side shoots or growth to keep the trunk clear of any branching. Shear the canopy back in late winter, and maintain the ball or canopy by cutting back any wayward branching throughout the year.

Spring flowers turn into berries for the summer. Photos show plant in summer.

  • White or pinkish flowers in the summer followed by red inedible berries
  • Great for in-ground or containers
  • Needs full sun, in desert areas shelter it from the hot sun
  • Cold hardy in Zones 5 to 9, or to -20F
  • Heat zones 8 - 6
  • Needs well-drained soil
  • Regular water, let dry out to damp to avoid over-watering
  • Growth rate estimated at 3" to 6" per year, but can to be pruned
